La Parva is one of the three ski resorts that are only 50 kilometers from Santiago. It is characterized by its courts, restaurants and activities that take place throughout the year.
Located about 2000 meters above sea level, La Parva stands out in the Three Valleys (El Colorado, Valle Nevado and La Parva) as perhaps the most exclusive of the 3 and the one that receives the least international visitors. This is because it works more like an exclusive ski club than a ski resort (not that it does not work as such) due to the large number of condominiums that exist, whose owners are mainly wealthy families from Santiago. Most owners ski in the morning and during the afternoon settle in their magnificent terraces to share with friends and family, which is great for the average skier, since the center is rarely congested.
The resort is medium in size, with a vertical drop of 960 meters and many areas for beginners and intermediate (basically 75% of the resort are blue or red tracks). The resort has a small snow park that year after year has been improving but still cannot conduct international competitions although they work constantly to exceed the level.
For the more advanced, there are several black tracks and plenty of areas off the accessible tracks of the ski resort. Some years ago, La Parva opened the Valle de Fabres area within its ski area but preserved in its natural state.
Experts can access the chimney, a ravine with a very narrow and steep entry whose greatest grace is that it is in full view of everyone, so you can go show everybody what you're made of (or give a good show, if you fall).
The resort has 16 cable cars, of which 5 are chairs and they all are slow (the resort does not have any express cable car). To eat on the mountain, we have the famous 3100, so named because it is located at 3,100 meters above sea level. Here you will find mainly sandwiches, beer and drinks. It's not an amazing restaurant and like everything else in the mountains of Chile, it is quite expensive.
At the base, near the condominiums, we find La Marmita de Pericles, with international food and tables with towels. Near the Marmita is also the Saint-Tropez, specializing in French cuisine.
On the slopes we also have the Olimpico Cafe, whose owner is the famous Patricia Anguita who was director of the ski school of La Parva for many years, mother of prominent Chilean Olympic skiers and last but not least is the current president of the Chilean Ski Federation. In this cafe, we can find a varied menu, with pizzas, tables, dishes and drinks. It is located next to the ski school at (Golondrina sector). In the Águilas sector we find two more restaurants: El Mirador del Cóndor and La Pirca del Águila.
La Parva is a pure wonder: the most uncongested of the 3 resorts and with excellent access to the track. It has a good ski school, with teachers who have national and international certifications, will make your lessons an experience to remember.
In terms of accommodation, La Parva works as a condo so if you want to rent something, you should do it for an entire week because it's rare to find flexible rentals (although not impossible). Most of the tourists stay in Farellones due to the ease and offer we can find there, and also many of the accommodations offer free transportation from Farellones to La Parva.
